Overcome Your Fear of Changes
The least expected attitude toward change is the evasive one in which you ask yourself “Why me, I do not want to do this”. When I first moved to Shanghai, my life was changed also. I was also afraid of the uncertainty of the future life in Shanghai.
I kept asking myself if I would be able to get accustomed to the fast pace of life, the high living cost, the dialect of language and so on. Recognizing the existence of changes, what you shall do next is to overcome your fears of changes and figure out what exactly you are worried about changes. When Haw from Who Moved My Cheese? was wondering if he really wants to go out into the maze, he asked himself “what would you do if you weren’t afraid”? Be confronted with your feelings for changes, conduct an analysis of your fears and overcome them! Like Haw said, when you move beyond your fear, you feel free (Johnson, 2002). Finding encouragement from someone else is one of the ways to overcome your fears of changes. During my beginning life in Shanghai, my parents have been supporting me psychologically. If you are unable to deal with fears of changes properly, the fears can develop into a source of stress that will be in the way of your work or life.
